Packing |
Always Something More |
Personally, I did not want to have to deal with any type of rolling luggage, even if it was just a small carry on. So I opted to bring just a backpack, and a purse. (Yes, seriously). And I loved it! Not only was I hands free, but I was able to not worry about my luggage getting checked by some of the smaller European airlines. It was nice knowing that everything I needed was within reach. I used Rick Steves' packing cubes and ziplock bags to make everything fit.

On the other hand, I did end up creating a list of things that I really wish I had packed with me. Namely, an umbrella, waterproof shoes, and a hooded jacket. No matter how good the weather forecast looks, it will be wet, windy, and cold!
I also wish I had brought the Rick Steves' Italy guidebook, but I guess I will remember to pack it next time around. |

If you're planning on going to Italy, it's probably best to learn a few phrases. Luckily, I took two years of Italian in college, but I was getting a bit rusty before our trip. It's always good to know how to ask for directions, and in our case, order food.

I love taking pictures. However, I decided that maybe I should just enjoy "the moment" on certain occasions and skipped out on taking photos quite a lot of times on this trip. Don't do that! Take tons of pictures! Of the food, the streets, anything really! Your memory is only as good as a couple of key moments throughout the trip, so take lots of photos to remember!
