DAY 4 ContinuedAn evening in Volterra
Volterra is a small but vibrant town located in Tuscany, with evidence of thousands of years of history all around. Since we arrived in the evening, we had a quick look at the town as we made our way up to our hotel, and then enjoyed one of our best group dinners of the tour, at a quaint former house turned restaurant. |
DAY 5
Walking through history
In the morning we met up with our local guide Annie in the center of town. She took us on a walking tour through the area and showed us the Porta all'Arco (pictured on the left) that held the town together during World War II, brought us to an alabaster workshop (photo directly below), the Etruscan museum, and ruins of a Roman theatre. |
